METHOD FOR ALTERING FERTILITY

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for enhancing fertility by reducing the activity and or level of glycoprotein hormones circulating in blood and having a lutropin (LH) activity. SOLUTION: A molecule as an antibody or other binding agents that reduce the biological activity of the LH is used. The new method for devising and/or selecting an antibody to a specific portion of a protein including the LH and human chorionic gonadotropin(hCH) to permit the biological activity thereof to be reduced to a desired degree is disclosed. Furthermore, the preparation of a single subunit gonadotropin and a gonadotropin antagonist for use in stimulating and inhibiting the fertility and for controlling ovarian hyperstimulation are disclosed.
