<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solvent for treating a foamed polystyrene composed of a glycol ether and a gel-coagulating agent as constituting components to being the foamed polystyrene to jerry or gel state giving excellent working environment since it has a good handling property, a high ignition point and a sufficient safety not requiring the use of a gas or smell-preventing mask, or a local ventilation because it has neither harmful irritating nor uncomfortable smell, not giving nervous disturbance, hepatopathy, teratogenicity and carcinogenicity, and realizing a practically required treating amount and excellent dissolving rate at various areas and climates, especially at a low temperature, and a method for treating the foamed polystyrene by using the solvent. SOLUTION: This solvent for the foamed polystyrene is the liquid medium for making the foamed polystyrene as the jerry or gel state for reducing its volume and is characterized by using the glycol ether and gel-coagulation agent as the constituting components.</p> |
