There is provided an apparatus for summing bivectors each comprising a plurality of pairs of elements selected from a predetermined finite field, theapparatus comprising means (14) for inputting bivect ors X1 and X2, and a parameter A for defining a curve therethrough, first to third storage means (13)for storing the bivectors X1 and X2, and the paramet er A therein, characterized by means (16) for reading the bivectors X1 and X2, and the parameter A, and, wh en the bivectors X1 and X2 are supposed to be coordinate value rows of points i n point-sets Q1 and Q2 on the curve defined with the parameter A, respectively , operating a bivector X3 comprised of coordinate value row of points in a poi nt-set Q3 equal to a sum of the point-sets Q1 and Q2 in Jacobian group of the curve defined with the parameter A.
