The invention relates to a doorstop, in particular for motor vehicles, comprising a door retaining rod (1), arranged parallel to the door pivot, pivoted on a door assembly piece, door, or door column, and a retainer piece fixed to the other door assembly piece. Said retainer piece and the door retaining rod (1) which passes therethrough are movably connected to each other by means of a locking device which defines predetermined door opening positions. Said locking device is provided with brake and/or retaining elements which are movably supported in the retainer piece against a spring force relative to the door retainer rod (1) and are thus pre-tensioned against brake ramps and catch depressions on at least one side of the door retainer rod (1), arranged perpendicular to the direction of movement. The retainer rod (1) is provided with a surface (6), being linked with the brake and/or retaining elements, which comprises grooves (4) that extend on both sides from the middle to the edge of the surface (6). |
