AAL2 ATM TRANSMITTING DEVICE FOR DIFFERENT TRAFFIC GROUPS AND METHOD THEREFOR

PURPOSE: An AAL(ATM Adaptation Layer)2 ATM transmitting device for different traffic groups is provided to transmit cells by deciding transmission cells based on load of delay sensitive traffic groups and delay insensitive traffic groups as well as delay requirements for the delay sensitive traffic groups, so as to improve link transmission efficiency of the delay sensitive traffic groups and the delay insensitive traffic groups. CONSTITUTION: An AAL(ATM Adaptation Layer)2 multiplexing unit(100) comprises a delay sensitive AAL2 multiplexer(110) and a delay insensitive AAL2 multiplexer(120). The delay sensitive AAL2 multiplexer(110) performs an AAL2 multiplexing and a CPCS(Common Part Convergence Sublayer) packet conversion for delay sensitive traffic groups. The delay insensitive AAL2 multiplexer(120) performs an AAL2 multiplexing and a CPCS packet conversion for delay insensitive traffic groups. An AAL2 ATM cell generating unit(200) comprises a delay sensitive AAL2 ATM cell generator(210) and a delay insensitive AAL2 ATM cell generator(220). The delay sensitive AAL2 ATM cell generator(210) suppresses cell generation delay about delay sensitive CPCS packets transmitted from the delay sensitive AAL2 multiplexer(110) by using a cell generation timer, and loads the CPCS packets in a cell payload to generate delay sensitive AAL2 ATM cells. The delay insensitive AAL2 ATM cell generator(220) loads delay insensitive CPCS packets transmitted from the delay insensitive AAL2 multiplexer(120) in a cell payload, and generates delay insensitive AAL2 ATM cells. An AAL2 ATM cell multiplexer(300) multiplexes the delay sensitive and the delay insensitive AAL2 ATM cells by considering standby cell states of the delay sensitive traffic groups and the delay insensitive traffic groups as well as load state of the delay insensitive traffic groups.
