PURPOSE: An RNA specifically binding to a regulatory protein for hepatitis c virus proliferation and a method for diagnosing HCV infection using it are provided, thereby cheaply and accurately diagnosing the infection of HCV. CONSTITUTION: The RNA having the nucleotide sequences of SEQ ID NOs 1 and 2 is capable of specifically binding with the NS3 helicase active site of a complex protein expressed from HCV. The infection of HCV may be diagnosed by detecting the specific binding between the RNA and the NS3 helicase active site of the complex protein expressed from HCV, in which the RNA is selected from the RNA library having various nucleotide sequences by using SELEX method.
