PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR METHANOL CONVERSION

PURPOSE: A process and a device for methanol conversion are provided to obtain a methanol from organic gases using a simple apparatus and a conventional catalyst at atmospheric pressure. CONSTITUTION: In the process, organic gases which contain CO and H2 vaporized from liquefied organic wastes having a high molecular weight, are contacted with catalyst which was heated by irradiating an infrared light, so that the CO and H2 are converted to methanol. The converted methanol is liquefied by cooling and recovered while unreacted organic gas is recycled. The device comprises: a tool for introducing organic gases which contain CO and H2 vaporized from liquefied organic wastes having a high molecular weight into reactor; a catalyst which is laminated in the reactor so as to contact with the organic gases; an infrared light generator which is fitted in the reactor so as to irradiate infrared light to the catalyst; a cooling tool for liquefying methanol which is converted by contacting with the catalyst; a tool for recovering and reintroducing unreacted organic gas into reactor.
