An apparatus for automaticlly monitoring the structural integrity of comb plate teeth of a passenger conveyor by establishing an electrical or pressure signal path along each of the comb plate teeth. The signal parth is monitored by a controller and a damaged comb plate tooth is detected based on variation in the signal propagating through the signal path. Upon detection of a damaged tooth, the controller shuts off power to the passenger conveyor and/or indicates that service of the comb plate is needed. |
