AAL2 ATM TRANSMISSION DEVICE AND METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An AAL(ATM Adaptation Layer)2 ATM transmission device is provided to perform AAL2 multiplexing by each traffic group and to carry out cell generation for suppressing cell generation delay of delay sensitive traffic groups, then to multiplex the generated cells by one cell multiplexer according to load of each inputted traffic groups and delay requirements of each traffic group, so as to improve link transmission efficiency of the delay sensitive traffic groups and delay insensitive traffic groups. CONSTITUTION: An AAL2 multiplexer(10) comprises as follows. Many delay sensitive AAL2 multiplexers(11-1 - 11-N) multiplex each different delay sensitive traffic group and perform CPCS(Common Part Convergence Sublayer) packet conversion for the traffic groups. Many delay insensitive AAL2 multiplexers(13-1 - 13-M) multiplex each different delay insensitive traffic group and perform CPCS(Common Part Convergence Sublayer) packet conversion for the traffic groups. An AAL2 ATM cell generator(20) comprises as follows. Many delay insensitive AAL2 ATM cell generators(21-1 - 21-N) load a cell payload with delay sensitive CPCS packets of each delay sensitive AAL2 multiplexer(11-1 - 11-N) by using a cell generation timer, as suppressing cell generation delay, and generate AAL2 ATM cells. Many delay insensitive AAL2 ATM cell generators(23-1 - 23-M) load a cell payload with delay insensitive CPCS packets of each delay insensitive AAL2 multiplexer(13-1 - 13-M), and generate AAL2 ATM cells. An AAL2 ATM cell multiplexer block(30) comprises as follows. Many AAL2 ATM cell multiplexer buffers(31) temporarily store the delay sensitive/insensitive AAL2 ATM cells. An AAL2 ATM cell multiplexer(37) multiplexes the delay sensitive/insensitive AAL2 ATM cells according to a weight round-robin method.
