PURPOSE: A safety apparatus of an electrodeless lamp is provided to stop operation of the lamp by detecting that a cooling fan or a fan motor is not operated abnormally. CONSTITUTION: A safety apparatus of an electrodeless lamp comprises an electrodeless bulb, an exciting unit, and a cooling unit. The cooling unit includes an air duct, a cooling fan(9), a fan motor(10), a fan sensor(110), a reflective plate(120), and a controller. The fan sensor(110) is attached to the outer side of the fan motor(10) and senses normality of operation of the cooling fan(9) by detecting light returned back after oscillating light. The reflective plate(120) is attached to the outer side of the cooling fan(9) and receives light oscillated from the fan sensor(110) through a transmission hole(131) for reflecting the received light. The fan sensor(110) includes a luminescent unit(111) for transmitting light, and a receiving unit(112) for applying an on/off signal to the controller depending on reflected light.
