PURPOSE: A polyester hardboard is provided which has appropriate fire retardancy as a building interior material. CONSTITUTION: The fire retardant polyester fiber board is characterized in that a fire retardant paint is coated on the surface of a polyester fiber board which simultaneously satisfies the conditions that a temperature of exhaust gas is 270 deg.C or less, a smoke coefficient is 80 or less, and an action time of a mouse(a five week old ICR female mouse having a weight of 18 to 22 g) is 14 minutes or more for a heating time of 6 minutes in the surface and gas harmfulness tests measured by KS F 2271-1998(fire retardancy test method of interior materials and structures of buildings).
