MECHANICAL BEAM STEERING ANTENNA AND FABRICATING METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A mechanical beam steering antenna and a fabricating method thereof are provided to obtain constant maximum efficiency in all of beam directions, accomplish fast mechanical movement and fine control of a driving angle, and enable system integration for mass production. CONSTITUTION: A mechanical beam steering antenna comprises a silicon substrate on a glass substrate, a ground plane on the silicon substrate, a dielectric polymer layer on the ground plane, a micro-strip line coupled to the antenna element on the dielectric polymer layer, and a magnetic bar under the silicon substrate. The dielectric polymer layer includes a platform at its center, an inner frame and an outer frame surrounding the platform, a pair of inner hinges for connecting the platform to the inner frame, and a pair of outer hinges for connecting the inner frame to the outer frame. On the platform, many antenna elements are arranged. On the inner hinges and the outer hinges, a micro-strip line is coupled to the antenna elements.
