Disclosed is a battery charging system that includes a battery pack and a battery charging apparatus and that charges the battery using communication between the battery pack and the battery charging apparatus. The battery pack includes a power receiver, a battery, a controller having a microcontroller programmed to monitor a voltage and a current supplied to the battery, and a signal generator generating a control signal based on the charging status of the battery to facilitate supply of a constant voltage and a constant current to the battery for proper charging. The battery charging apparatus includes a filter, a rectifier, a power voltage generator, a switching power section, a power transmitter, a signal receiver, and a power controller having a microcontroller programmed to generate a control signal to the switching power section based on a signal supplied from the signal receiver. |
