PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an output device that can inform a wireless terminal of a user about an error state through wireless communication and to provide its communication method. SOLUTION: On the occurrence of an error in a printer 303 having a wireless communication function, the printer 303 issues an error command to a host computer 301 and transmits the error command to a wireless terminal 302 through wireless communication. Then the printer 303 analyzes data received from the wireless terminal 302 and transmits the error command to the wireless terminal 302 based on the analysts result. Furthermore, the printer 303 discriminates success of transmission by receiving an error reception end command from the wireless terminal 302 after transmission of the error command to the wireless terminal 302.
