SHORT CUT PATH SELECTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short cut path selection method by which concentration of short cut paths can be avoided in the case of establishing the short cut paths in an IP network so as to attain effective utilization of channels and routers. SOLUTION: In the case of setting up a short cut path in the IP network, an available band of a channel whose short cut path is set up is calculated as a value resulting from subtracting the band used for the short cut path from available bands of the channel before its short cut path is set up. The cost of the channel whose short cut path is set up is calculated based on the calculated available band. The cost of channels possessed by each of routers 1-1 to 1-3 is updated to the cost after the calculation. When each router sets up a short cut path next, each router selects the short cut path on the basis of the cost after the update.
