PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a contact type magnetic head free from danger of corrosion of a pad for connection and an electric circuit connected therewith, when a releasing layer is dissolved and removed. SOLUTION: A releasing layer 14 and a first insulating layer 72 are laminated on a substrate 12. Then the surface of the first insulating layer 72 is covered by a mask 74 having a through hole 74a and the first insulating layer 72 is isotropically etched until the first insulating layer 72 laminated directly under the through hole 74a slightly remains. Then the first insulating layer 72 isotropically etched is further anisotropically etched to form a recessed part 76 reaching the releasing layer 14. Then a second insulating layer 78 is laminated on at least the surface of the recessed part 76 and the pad 60 for connection is laminated thereon.
