PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable magnetic disk device which is capable of suppressing the occurrence of the chemical reaction of constituting members, the rotation failure of a magnetic disk, head crash, etc., by lessening the infiltration of harmful gases, dust etc., into an exterior case. SOLUTION: A filter 7a built into the exterior case 4 is a gas selective filter which allows the selective permeation of the specific gas and is more particularly a membrane to allow the selective permeation of nitrogen.
