PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method capable of detecting closing of one of plural switches while using one (the same) input pin of a detector. SOLUTION: In the device for detecting closing of one of switches S1-S5 while using one input line of the detector (P/PC device 4 provided with a microprocessor 17), this device is provided with a voltage generator (voltage divider composed of resistors R1-R5, a microphone 12 and a pull-up resistor R6) configured to respond to closing of the switch for the purpose of generating one output voltage of plural prescribed voltages depending on which one of switches S1-S5 is closed to an input line and a comparator (microprocessor 17 provided with an analog/digital converter 18) provided in the detector for receiving the output voltage on the input line and deciding which one of plural switches is closed.
