PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent forgery of specified manuscripts by simple constitution, using a picture communication apparatus, especially to prevent and trace forgery on pictures of specified manuscripts stored in the picture communication apparatus, after taking the pictures out of an external apparatus. SOLUTION: The apparatus judges whether a manuscript scanned by reading means is a specified manuscript. When the manuscript is judged as the specified manuscript, the apparatus clears picture data stored in a memory means and adequately stores the effect of the specified manuscript in the memory means. If a picture fetch request (polling request) is given from an external unit for the picture data cleared off the memory means because of the specified manuscript judge, the apparatus stores at least an identification number of the external unit and information exhibiting the effect of the picture data fetch request from the external unit.
