PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition device of an internal combustion engine which can suppress air impact sound produced by recesses existing on both end plane sides of a permanent magnet on a flywheel. SOLUTION: This ignition device of an internal combustion engine generates a high voltage in an ignition coil 4 by using the magnetic action of a permanent magnet 2 provided on the outer circumference side of a flywheel 1. The parts of the outer circumference 1e of the flywheel 1 on the sides of both the end planes of the permanent magnet 2 are formed so as to have an air gap length between component members of the ignition coil 4 side and the outer circumference 2a of the permanent magnet 2 not changed suddenly.
