PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an thin film El element with high luminous efficiency, low driving voltage, and long life. SOLUTION: The thin film EL element uses an electric charge transporting luminous material as an emission layer 4 which has a part contributing to the electric charge transport in a molecule, and a part contributing to the emission where at least two molecular orbitals contributing to the transition for emission are localized.
