PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify an original picture containing specified picture patterns at a high accuracy to perform an adequate process, irrespective of the direction of the original picture. SOLUTION: A picture pattern has a specified color density and is composed of a plurality of marks 201, 202 disposed in a specified positional relation. The picture pattern is extracted from an inputted original picture. The plurality of marks B, C, D and E are disposed on concentric virtual contours 203 with center at a mark A as a reference. Peculiar information represented by the picture pattern are identified, based on the distances of the marks on the contours from the center position.
