The ceiling or floor conduit is provided by a fire-resistant protective sleeve (R) e.g. of high quality steel, provided with mineral stoppers at either end region and a fire-resistant packing (F) enclosing the cables (K), provided by loose mineral material granules, between the stoppers. The outer diameter of the enclosed cable or cable bundle is between 4/10 and 6/10 of the inner diameter of the protective sleeve. An Independent claim for a method for laying cables in a building ceiling or floor is also included.
