<p>A galley waste disposal system is provided for use with an existing vacuum col-lection system. The galley waste disposal system includes a basin (11) for re-ceiving galley waste and a discharge valve (24) connected between the basin (11) and a collection tank (16). The discharge valve (24) is vacuum-operated and has an actuating port (26). An electrically operated vacuum control valve (28) is connected between the actuating port (26) and a vacuum source (17). A flush element (46) is also provided that is actuatable to produce a discharge command. A controller (44) is operably connected to the control valve (28) and is selec-tively operable in response to the discharge command to place the actuating port (26) in fluid communication with the vacuum source (17), thereby to open the discharge valve (24). In addition, the discharge valve (24), vacuum control valve (28), and controller (44) may be housed in an enclosure (14) suitable for mounting remotely from the basin (11).</p> |
