Safety wheel system comprises a wheel (2) which can be fitted with one broad or several narrow tires (9). The inflation valve (7) is mounted at the hub (3) of the wheel and a connecting tube (6) runs from it through one of the spokes (2) to an outlet (5) in the wheel rim. The rim is divided into sections by circumferential ribs if several tires are to be fitted.
