The method involves arranging at least one sensor to be at least partly immersed in the liquid. The sensor passes an electrical signal depending on the depth of immersion or the liquid level to an evaluation device and has a capacitor or characteristic impedance with variable capacitance determined by the immersion depth. The evaluation device forms a level indication signal from the electrical signal. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) A sensor, especially for implementing the method; (2) A level measurement device.
