PURPOSE: A method and apparatus is provided to achieve an improved safety and work efficiency and reduce cost for investigation by allowing a worker to perform a real-time monitoring through the adjustment of the control unit, rather than using a scaffold. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a first step of installing a bridge checking vehicle with a quadric link(6,7,8,9) at the outer surface of the bridge to be checked; a second step of attaching a biaxial scalar robot(10) for conveying a camera, to an end of the quadric link; a third step of attaching a camera to an end of the biaxial scalar robot, wherein the camera has a pan drive and a tilt drive; a fourth step of controlling the quadric link and biaxial scalar robot from the upper portion of the bridge; a fifth step of allowing the bridge checking vehicle to move, take pictures of the desired site and transmit the taken pictures through wire or wireless system; and a sixth step of checking the defects of bridge by using a vision program which is built in a computer.
