Urea derivatives represented by the following general formula (1) or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof: (1) wherein each symbol is as defined in the description. Because of having a C5a receptor antagonism, these compounds are useful as remedies and preventives for diseases or syndromes induced by C5a [for example, autoimmune diseases such as rheumatism and systemic lupus erythematosus, allergic diseases such as sepsis, adult respiratory distress syndrome, chromic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma, atherosclerosis, cardiac infarction, brain infarction, psoriasis, Alzheimer's disease and serious organ injuries by the activation of leucocytes caused by ischemia, trauma, burn, surgical invasion, etc. (for example, pneumonia, nephritis, hepatitis and pancreatitis)]. Moreover, these compounds are useful as remedies and preventives for bacterial and viral infections mediated by C5a receptor.
