The invention provides a method of data transfer between a source computer and a target computer comprising the steps of transmitting data in a multi-media format from the source computer over a first network to a server configured to receive data in more than one protocol over the first network, the protocols including Internet protocols and multi-media protocols, converting the data in the multi-media format to an Internet format, and transmitting the data in the Internet format over a second network to the target format. The target computer is configured to receive data in a finite set of protocols over the second network, this finite set of protocols including Internet protocols but excluding multi-media protocols.
