Production of a handle comprises producing a standard plastic, and a metal-plated version using the same mold. For the plated version, a plastic handle is plasma coated with a thin metal layer. An thin intermediate metal layer is then plasma coated, followed by an electroplated thick layer of the same. The handle surface is polished and a final coating of metal is electroplated. Production of the handle comprises producing a standard plastic handle and a deluxe metal-plated version using the same mold. For the deluxe version, a plastic handle (10') is plasma coated with a thin base metal layer (23). An intermediate metal thin layer (26) is then plasma coated, followed by a thick layer (28) of the same metal, applied by electroplating. The handle surface (27') is polished and a final coating (22) of metal is applied by electroplating.
