A semiconductor device for communication in which the area of circuit required for transmitting/receiving CATV can be reduced significantly as compared with a conventional device where a receiving circuit and a transmitting circuit are implemented as independent functional components by mounting a circuit (2) for receiving data through a CATV line and a circuit (3) for transmitting data through a CATV line on the same semiconductor substrate (1). Furthermore, noise is prevented from being mixed mutually between the receiving circuit (2) and the transmitting circuit (3) by disposing a guard ring (6) between them.
