COMPUTER ASSISTED MAMMOGRAPHY SCREENING TO DETECT AND CLASSIFY MICROCALCIFICATIONS

摘要

A novel system for processing mammography images to detect and classify microcalcifications and other abnormalities is provided in which a computer-assisted method and system allows real-time processing of mammography screening to detect and classify microcalcifications based on their likelihood of malignancy. The method extracts the breast region from digitized mammograms, finds suspicious areas within this region, enhances certain characteristics of the image in a specified region of interest, and classifies the microcalcifications based on the geometric shape of the enhanced image.
