A method for manufacturing a tantalum sintered object for an electrolytic capacitor, which comprises a molding step (I) of subjecting a reduced tantalum powder to a heat treatment at an elevated temperature in an inert atmosphere, pulverizing the treated product to prepare a tantalum powder having a bulk density of 0.50 to 1.85/cm3, and molding the resultant tantalum powder into a molded product having a density of 4.5 to 7.0 g/cm3 and a volume less than 5 mm3, and a sintering step of heating the molded product under vacuum so as to convert it to a sintered object with a volume shrinkage percentage of 2 to 15 %; and a method for manufacturing a tantalum sintered object for an electrolytic capacitor, which comprises a molding step (II) of subjecting a reduced tantalum powder to a heat treatment at an elevated temperature in an inert atmosphere, pulverizing the treated product to prepare a tantalum powder having a bulk density of 1.75 to 2.5/cm3, and molding the resultant tantalum powder into a molded product having a density of 4.5 to 7.0 g/cm3 and a volume of 5 mm3 or more, and the above-mentioned sintering step. The above methods can be employed for manufacturing a high performance tantalum electrolytic capacitor which is reduced in leakage current and free from the lowering of its capacity, depending on the volume of the capacitor.
|
