The present invention relates to a method of applying treatment chemicals to a dry, creped tissue material, said method comprising the steps of: a) applying a first treatment composition containing at least one treatment chemical to the dry, creped tissue material to produce a first layer having at least one first treatment chemical; b) applying at least one further treatment composition containing at least one other treatment chemical to produce at least one other layer on the first layer, said other layer having at least one other treatment chemical, and a tissue material or tissue product obtainable according to this method. The process of the invention enables the production of tissue products, wherein the treatment chemicals are optimally distributed, depending on their purpose of use, and can develop their properties.
