The invention relates to a fluid filter for removing contaminants from fluids such as lubricating oil, water or fuel. The fluid filter comprises a filter housing (10), a filter element (15), a supporting body (16), and a slide valve (17). When closed, the slide valve (17) prevents the fluid from flowing into a fluid discharge (24) from the unclean side (18) or from the clean side (19). Once the filter housing (10) is opened, the slide valve (17) axially moves, whereby opening the fluid discharge (24) and permitting the filter housing (10) to empty. In the inventive fluid filter, the slide valve (17) is detachably snapped together with a supporting body (16) that is connected to a housing cover (12). This enables the slide valve (17) to be detached from the supporting body (16). The elements' ability to be detached from one another advantageously results in reducing the level of maintenance required by the fluid filter.
