摘要 |
PURPOSE: A multi-stage bidirectional optical amplifier is provided, which is more economical than an optical amplifier using an additional mid-stage device per optical signal propagating bidirectionally, and can reduce a degradation of the signal due to a nonlinearity of the mid-stage device even though the number of optical signals inputted to the mid-stage device increases. CONSTITUTION: Single-stage bidirectional optical amplifiers(30a,30b) comprise two input/output ports(p1,p2) to amplify a downward/upward optical signal propagating bidirectionally and amplify the optical signal at the same time by being connected to the input/output port. Multi-reflection suppression units(28a,28b) are connected to input/output ports of the single-stage bidirectional optical amplifiers respectively, and transfer an optical signal of a specific wavelength toward one direction. And a mid-stage device(42) is connected between the multi-reflection suppression units, and comprises a unit for dispersive compensation, a unit for an optical amplifier gain flattering and a unit for noise accumulation removal of the optical amplifier.
