PURPOSE: A simple method and apparatus for measuring distance is provided to minimize a distance measurement error by measuring the distance in an accurate and rapid manner through the use of a sensor. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises a rod(1) having a light ray sensor(12), and a remote controller(2) having a light ray sensor(120) for reflecting the light ray. The remote controller includes a remote controller panel(110), the light ray sensor, a distance measuring unit(130) and a remote controller operating unit(140). The rod includes a magnetic unit(13) for attaching the rod to a wall, and a sharp edge(14) for fixing the rod into a floor or bottom of the object. The magnetic unit and sharp edge are attached to a rod fixing plate(11). The rod and remote controller are made up of an FRP material having a superior strength and high warp resistance. The distance between two objects is measured and calculated by the speed of the light being reflected, wherein the speed is detected by the light ray sensors of the rod and remote controller.
