PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display which is provided with a power saving device, capable of shortening the recovery time of a picture and of attaining more power saving of power consumption by setting a single power-saving mode. SOLUTION: This device is a display which is provided with a cathode-ray tube and which constitutes a screen by inputting power to be supplied from a power source, color signals, vertical and horizontal synchronizing signals to be transmitted from a computer and the display includes a control unit 15 which outputs instructions, when the unit detects that either of synchronizing signals disappears and a power management circuit 4. The power management circuit 4 advances to the single power saving mode by reducing power of other circuits of the display device, based on the instructions and sets the operation circulation cycle of the heater 13 of the cathode-ray tube to a prescribed value being within 100% to 0%, to make the temperature of the heater 13 a temperature higher than room temperature and also lower than the operating temperature of the heater at the time, when the operation circulation cycle of the heater is 100%.
