SUBSTANCE: invention, in particular, relates to treatment of liquid, preferably light petroleum products for their refinement and reforming by means of electromagnetic fields. Method consists in that liquid hydrocarbons are preheated to turn into vapor state and resulting vapors, which are made move spirally inside a container, are treated by unipolar electromagnetic pulses with power greater than 1 MW, duration less than 1 ns, and frequency at least 1 kHz, after which vapors are cooled to liquid state. Installation comprises container for treatment of hydrocarbons with system for supplying liquid hydrocarbons and discharging treated vapors, apparatus for heating liquid hydrocarbons, apparatus for cooling treated vapors, and unipolar electromagnetic pulse generator. Hydrocarbon treatment container is constructed in the form of two coaxial cylinders joined by common bottom on one end and ending each with conical part on the other end, inside surface of external cylinder with its conical part and outside surface of internal cylinder with its conical part being connected, respectively, with cable armor and central cable conductor. Supply connecting pipe is disposed near the conical part of container at angle 70-80 deg. to longitudinal axis of container.
