PURPOSE: A method for installing vibration suppressing damping member and damping member installation structure is provided to achieve an improved efficiency of vibration damping, while using a small mount of damping material. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a first step of analyzing, according to a finite element method analysis, the vibration mode generated when an external force is applied to each part of an air conditioner case(10) at the state where a damping member is not installed; a second step of detecting the nodal point or nodal lines of the case in each vibration mode, according to the result of the analysis performed in the first step; and a third step of attaching a vibration suppressing damping member(D) to the detected nodal point of nodal lines of the case.
