PURPOSE: A food purchasing system and method is provided to check the amount of the food stored in a refrigerator, and to enable the refrigerator to access a food sale site and to request purchase of the foods necessary according to a menu. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of a user accessing a food supply shopping mall by using a refrigerator connected to the internet(201), the shopping mall offering food menu informations to the user(202), the user selecting a food menu and transmit the food menu to the internet refrigerator(203), the internet refrigerator catching informations on the food stored in a storage and checking the amount and the sort of the food in order to cook the selected food menu(204), the internet refrigerator ordering checked foods to the shopping mall(205), and the shopping mall supplying the ordered foods to the user(206). The internet refrigerator includes a bar code reader for managing a food stock in the storage by reading the bar codes attached at foods when the foods are put in or out.
