METHOD FOR DISPLAYING ICON IN DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM HAVING DISPLAY SCREEN, ICON SCALING SYSTEM AND COMPUTER READABLE STORAGE MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data processing system for scaling an icon so as to include the icon in a display area. SOLUTION: The number of icons to be displayed on the screen of a computer is determined. A boundary area for displaying the icons on the screen of the computer is calculated. Then the sizes of icons are scaled so that all the icons can be displayed in the boundary areas while using all display areas allowed to be used. The minimum size and maximum size of icons can be restricted on the basis of the setting by the user. When the icons can not be scaled so as to be included in the boundary by using the minimum size selected by the user, only a part of icons is displayed. Thus all the icons are scaled to the sizes utilizing the whole boundary section of the display screen and displayed.
