PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display device allowing a driver to precisely grasp the map information displayed on a screen in a short time. SOLUTION: A curved face memory part 140 stores the curved surface definition information for defining a curved surface having a shape according to the arrangement of an enlarged part and contracted part in a map to be displayed. A mapping part 160 maps the range according to the positional information gained from a positional information receiving part 155 of the map stored in a map memory part 110, and a projection part 170 and a display part 180 project the mapping result on a flat virtual screen to display a projected image. Accordingly, a partially enlarged or contracted map is displayed while keeping the connection relation of roads. The curved surface is defined so as to cross the line of view in the projection at a desired angle in each position of the curved surface, whereby a desired part of the map can be enlarged and contracted.
