PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an address book display method for a portable terminal which can speedily obtain from a server the mail address of a recipient that a user wants to send mail to. SOLUTION: The portable terminal 1 comprises a display 3 which visually transmits various information to users and input keys 4 for inputting data and is connected to the server 2 through an information communication network 5. The server 2 comprises a CPU 6 which controls the operation of the whole server 2, a hard disk 8 which stores the address book of the portable terminal 1, and a memory 7 where respective address books are edited (data are rearranged). Consequently, the portable terminal 1 displays the last selected mail address or a mail address having its data registered or changed at the head of each address book.
