PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transmit monitoring information from an information processing system to be maintained to a remote maintenance device and to provide effective maintenance information from the remote maintenance device to the information processing system. SOLUTION: A information processing system 7 (or 10) monitors fault information, the ID and number-of-versions information of HW, FW and SW, etc., by using monitoring SW and transmits monitoring information to an information processing system 1 to be the remote maintenance device. The system 1 receives the monitoring information and inquires a DB 3. The DB 3 extracts recorded maintenance information on the basis of the inquired monitoring information, transmits the extracted information to the system 7 by an e-mail and presents necessary coping information to a home page of a maintenance service center. A system manager receiving the e-mail logs in the home page through the Internet 6, downloads data necessary for maintenance and applies the downloaded data to the system 7.
