PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toothed belt drive device that prevents a failure such as tooth chipping and ensures an improved life by facilitating gear jumping when a belt is suddenly stopped in a special purpose such as a high-speed coil winding machine. SOLUTION: The toothed belt drive device 1 is 30 constructed that the shapes of a front pressure face 7 and a rear pressure face 5 of a tooth portion 6 in a toothed belt 2 are asymmetric in relation to the centerline L of the tooth portion 6, the inclination of the rear pressure face 5 to the centerline L of the tooth portion 6 is at least larger than that of the front pressure face 7, the inclination of a rear pressure face 11 of a pulley 9 to the centerline L' of a tooth space 12 is also correspondingly larger than that of a front pressure face 13, and only the rear pressure face 5 of the tooth portion 6 in the toothed belt 2 or only the rear pressure face 11 of the toothed pulley 9 is coated with a fluororesin.
