PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple, durable, and inexpensive estimation device of a temperature state within a combustion chamber. SOLUTION: An exhaust temperature sensor 37 for detecting the temperature of exhaust gas exhausted from the combustion chamber of an engine 1 on the outside of the combustion chamber is installed, and based on the exhaust temperature detected value on the outside of the combustion chamber detected with the exhaust temperature sensor 37, the temperature within the combustion chamber after finishing of combustion of fuel supplied to the combustion chamber in order to generate an engine output, having high correlation with the detected value is estimated. Preferably, the estimation of the temperature within the combustion chamber is conducted on specific temperature suitable for the thermal decomposition of fuel, and in addition, a crank angle at the specific temperature is estimated.
