PURPOSE: A multi-domain LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) is provided to simplify the process and to improve a viewing angle and transmissivity. CONSTITUTION: LC molecules on a second substrate(35) are arranged in the vertical direction of a slit boundary. The arrangement direction of LC molecules on a first substrate(31) is decided by the amount of chiral dopant. Four domains are set centering on a slit(39). Four and more domains are formed with intermediate domains among the four domains. The arrangement direction of the LC molecules on the first substrate is set by adjusting the pitch of the LC molecules with the proper amount of chiral dopant. A slit angle becoming a desired twist angle is obtained by the arranged twist angle. The amount of dopant is set at 0.1-1.0wt%, preferably 0.3-0.8wt%. The multi-domain is constructed by adjusting the main viewing angle direction of the LC in a unit pixel with the inclination angle of slits, the amount of chiral dopant and the twist angle of the LC molecules.
