<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum which can be manufactured easily, is light in weight and makes it possible to obtain timbre which approximates that of a wooden drum. SOLUTION: The drum 1 is constituted by forming a body-shell 2 of a drum shape, hourglass shape or approximately hemispherical shape, which is opened at one end of fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) and spreading leather 3 and 3 at both ends. The fiber reinforced plastic is properly FRP formed, by reinforcing an unsaturated polyester resin with glass fibers or carbon fibers. The thickness of the FRP layer is suitably set according to the diameter and length of the body-shell and is properly ranges from 0.3 to 3.0% of the diameter.</p> |
