PURPOSE: An apparatus for measuring residual life of ink cartridge for ink jet printer is provided to achieve an improved user convenience by arranging a circuit for cumulatively counting the number of uses and amount of ink injection. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus comprises an ink head nozzle(200) constituted by a micro-actuator, and which discharges ink in accordance with the driving signal of the pulse waveform being applied; a nozzle driving unit(100) for applying a driving signal to the ink head nozzle in accordance with the control signal being inputted; a counter(300) for receiving a pulse waveform generated from the nozzle driving unit, and counting the frequency of ink discharge performed by the ink head nozzle; a reference data unit(400) for storing, as reference data, the amount of ink being discharged from the ink head nozzle through a single discharge; and a discharge amount counting unit(500) for receiving a signal output from the counter, making access to the data stored in the reference data unit, and cumulatively counting the amount of discharge accumulated from the reset time, by multiplying the data.
